Daniella Gibbs Léger
Daniella Gibbs Léger is a political strategist and communications expert, with deep experience in a broad range of policy and advocacy issues. Daniella was previously the executive vice president for Communications and Strategy at American Progress and senior vice president for American Values and New Communities. Prior to joining American Progress, Daniella served in the Obama administration as a special assistant to the president and director of message events, helping to plan and execute the president’s official domestic events. Prior to joining the White House in January 2009, Daniella had served as vice president for communications at CAP and as deputy director of communications at the Democratic National Committee, where she was communications director for the Women’s Vote Center and handled African American and specialty media and was a regional media director during the 2004 presidential cycle. Daniella spent two years at the National Newspaper Publishers Association as their marketing associate and political liaison, and also worked at Sony Music in New York City for three years before moving to Washington, D.C.
Daniella is a frequent guest on numerous TV and radio shows and has been published in The Washington Post, HuffPost, Essence.com, TheGrio.com, and Democracy Journal. She holds a degree in government and a minor in sociology from the University of Virginia, and lives in Washington, D.C.
