Ruthanne served as a Senior Adviser to U.S. Secretaries of Education John King and Arne Duncan. She was appointed by President Barack Obama from April 2012 through January 2017. Prior to joining the Department, Ruthanne served as Assistant to the President for Special Projects and National Field Director at the American Federation of Teachers.
Ruthanne began her career in 2001 at the Democratic National Committee working on women's and LGBT issues. Over the course of her career, she has led major field and political operations on behalf of progressive issues, agencies and candidates, with a particular focus on education. She was raised in Alexandria, Louisiana; educated at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts; and lives in Takoma Park, Maryland.
Emily M. Davis
Emily served as a Special Assistant for teacher leadership to U.S. Secretaries of Education John King and Arne Duncan. In this capacity, she led national educator outreach efforts, teacher leadership initiatives, digital campaigns, as well as strategic partnerships with national education organizations. After serving in the Department, Emily joined the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) as Director of Educator Engagement where she was responsible for strategic partnerships with government agencies, education organizations and global partners.
Emily began her career as a public school teacher teaching English as a Second Language and Spanish for 10 years. She grew up in Elmira, New York, received a bachelor's degree from LeMoyne College and holds a master's in educational leadership from Pepperdine University. She currently resides in St. Augustine, Florida.
Regina previously served as a Digital Strategist at the United Federation of Teachers and a Senior Communications Associate at the American Federation of Teachers, where she helped shape and manage digital communications and strategy for the organization, its principals and affiliates. She also specialized in education and labor state policy and legislation.
Prior to working at AFT, Regina served as the Assistant to the Chief of Campaigns and Programs at Amnesty International USA, where she worked on a variety of campaigns ranging from advocating for UN Arms Trade Treaty to the Maryland DREAM Act. Regina holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan and is based in New York City.
April has a lengthy background in finance and management and is currently studying Health Information Management. April joined our team in May of 2017 as our administrative scheduler. As a mother, and a student herself, April believes in the power of quality education and feels privileged to work with a team that strives to improve the system for teachers. Her primary role is to maintain the schedule for Squad Buck, keeping the team and their clients connected.
